Dr. Somi Javaid
Dr. Somi Javaid is a board-certified OB/GYN, surgeon, and the founder of HerMD, a healthcare platform focused on closing the gender gap in women’s health by providing expert care in menopause, sexual health, and gynecology. After years of seeing women’s concerns dismissed or left untreated, she built HerMD to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care that prioritizes women’s needs at every stage of life.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Javaid is shaping the future of healthcare and investment in FemTech. With fewer than 0.4% of women of color in the U.S. successfully securing venture capital funding, she has broken industry barriers, proving that women’s health is not just underserved—it’s a critical space for innovation. Her leadership has earned her recognition on Worth Magazine’s 25 Groundbreaking Women (2025) and Inc.’s Female Founders 250 list (2024).
Dr. Javaid’s thought leadership has been featured in Forbes, Vogue, Well + Good, and TEDx, where she has spoken on gender bias in healthcare and the urgent need for industry reform. She is also the host of The disruptHER podcast, where she challenges outdated medical norms and amplifies voices driving change in women’s health.
Through her work as a speaker, educator, and consultant, Dr. Javaid continues to push for equity in healthcare, ensuring that all women have access to the care and resources they deserve.
