Dr. Somi Javaid
Dr. Somi Javaid is a board-certified OB/GYN, surgeon, and founder of HerMD, a healthcare platform built to close the gender gap in women’s health with evidence-based care in menopause, sexual health, and gynecology. After years of watching women’s concerns minimized or dismissed, she created HerMD to center clinical excellence, access, and advocacy at every stage of life.
As an operator and founder, she has raised significant capital to scale HerMD,a feat achieved by fewer than 0.4% of women of color who secure venture investment in the U.S. Her leadership underscores both the systemic gap and the opportunity in women’s health innovation. She has successfully sold the company.
A recognized voice shaping the space, Dr. Javaid has been honored on Inc.’s Female Founders 250 (2024) and Worth’s Groundbreaking Women (2025) and featured by Fortune at the Most Powerful Women International Summit (2025). Her insights appear in Forbes, Vogue, Well+Good, and TEDx, where she addresses gender bias in medicine and the urgency of modernizing care. She also hosts The disruptHER podcast, amplifying the leaders redefining women’s health.
Dr. Javaid serves on the board of Bea Fertility and as a Medical Expert to The Body Agency. She advises Let’s Talk Menopause (Medical Advisory Board), Beacon Wellness (Educational Ambassador), Stripes (Medical Advisor), Pelva Health (Medical Advisor), and The FemHealth Project (Medical Advisor).
Her media and publishing work includes appearing as a medical expert in the award-winning documentary The M Factor and serving as a medical expert in two New York Times bestsellers: Dare I Say It by Naomi Watts and How To Menopause by Tamsen Fadal. Through clinical care, company building, and ecosystem leadership, Dr. Javaid is pushing the field forward so women receive the care, data, and dignity they deserve.
