Dr. Amy Ahnert is the Director of the Women’s Heart Program at Morristown Medical Center. She is a non-invasive cardiologist who specializes in women's heart health and has dedicated her career to developing programs focused on improving heart health in all women.

Dr. Ahnert is involved in research related to gender differences in heart disease.  She is dedicated to treating women’s unique cardiovascular risk factors and providing comprehensive cardiac care for women through all ages and stages of life. She also specializes in cardio-obstetrics and started one of the first multi-disciplinary programs in the country dedicated to caring for pregnant women with heart disease.

She is a local, national and international advocate for advancing attention to the epidemic of heart disease in women. She believes that all women deserve health care aimed at breaking down silos and treating the whole patient; which involves understanding the impact of mental health, social influences, women’s responsibilities as care givers, obstetrical and gynecologic history and more. She believes that health care providers must look outside a narrow lens to provide the best possible outcomes for women.

Her clinical practice also focuses on helping women navigate the risks and benefits of hormone replacement therapy. She believes each patient deserves an individualized approach to understanding and optimizing their treatment choices. She focuses on education and shared decision making to help patients achieve their best possible health.

Dr. Ahnert is active in community outreach and education to raise awareness of heart disease in the community. She is an avid cyclist, tennis player and skier and practices Yoga regularly.  She is dedicated to heart healthy living through regular exercise and heart healthy habits.  She aims to inspire heart healthy living for her patients.
