Allison Kalsched
Allison Kalsched is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Women’s Fitness Specialist with a thriving business in Maplewood, New Jersey. She understands the mental strength it takes to be a woman, and believes that all women can develop their physical strength to match.
Allison’s interest in fitness started in her late 30s. While she had been a long time runner, it was a try at a sprint triathlon in 2009 that started her on a path to a life in fitness. As she got more involved in the sport, Allison realized how much of a positive effect triathlon training had on her physical and emotional well being. She decided that she wanted to share that benefit with others.
In 2014, she began a mentorship with a personal trainer in Maplewood NJ which led her on the path to business ownership. The following year, she launched her signature outdoor boot camp program – a seasonal outdoor group exercise class that has grown into a strong community of amazing women.
In 2015, she started her own business, with one-on-one training in addition to the boot camps. Today, she is proud to have trained and worked with hundreds of women in her community. In 2019, she organized a three-day retreat in the Catskills and while plans for subsequent retreats were quashed by COVID, her reach broadened during and after the pandemic to include virtual training, an online membership program, and AK+ Accelerate, a six-week program hybrid program that combined pre-recorded modules and live group fitness that was accessible to women worldwide.
As many of her clients have worked with her for 10 years, it is a natural progression to incorporate the study of menopause into her practice. She has completed the Stacy Sims Menopause 2.0 online course, and is currently studying to become a Certified Menopause Coach.
She has completed over 15 multisport races, two marathons and the Gran Fondo NJ, 107-mile bike ride.
Allison studied Art History at McGill University and had a first career in the contemporary art world before starting her fitness business. She has lived in Maplewood for 20 years.
